Obituary of Joseph Henry Banfield
Joseph Henry Banfield, age 72, died suddenly on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville surrounded by his family. A resident of Warren, NJ for the past 21 years, he was born in Manhattan, NY.
Joe was an extremely hard working and dedicated person that was a warm friend to all. Joe was known for his down to earth personality, his commitment to his family, incredible Christmas decorations at his home, party emcee, and fondness for cars and reading. He was always a main fixture at all of his grandchildren's sporting events and recitals. For all that knew him, Joe will be missed.
He received his Bachelor's Degree in Physics from Fordham University.
Joe retired from Anadigics in Warren as a Manager of Development Planning from 1996 to 2009. He previously worked at RCA in Somerville.
Joe is survived by his wife, Carole Banfield; his son, Michael Banfield and his wife, Michelle of Hillsborough; his daughter, Deborah Banfield Rebetje and her husband, Joseph of Bridgewater; his sister, Janice Banfield of Vernon, NJ; his grandchildren, Kyle and Kaitlyn Banfield and Sarah, Jeremy and Nicholas Rebetje. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Carolyn Michaels of Warren and his sisters-in-law, Patricia Michaels of Warren and Mary Vroman and her husband, John of Clifton Park, NY.
Funeral services will begin on Tuesday, December 4th at 10:30 am at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by an 11:30 am Mass of Resurrection at Our Lady of the Mount Chapel, Warren. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3-5 & 7-9 pm and on Monday from 3-5 & 7-9 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Steeplechase Cancer Center, 30 Rehill Ave., Somerville, NJ 08876.
