Our deepest sympathies go out to Sally, Kara, Lorna their husbands, grandchildren and the entire Scotti family. Lou was a great friend and neighbor for 26 years and we will miss him.
We have enjoyed a special relationship with the Scotti family and we would like to share some of the lighter moments spent with Lou.
Lou loved to play golf. There were many Sunday mornings that Lou, George or Jim would get up at 2 a.m. in order to get a 7 a.m. tee time at Warrenbrook. There were other times that Lou and Jim, each standing in his own front yard, would practice their chip shots by hitting golf balls across the street at each other.
There were the Memorial Day picnics and Fourth of July fireworks watching from the Scotti front yard. We also had a wonderful time at the Jersey Shore and Sunset Beach with the Scotti family. Of course, golf was a part of every vacation. We wonder if Lou has located a “cloud wedge” instead of a sand wedge, because we know he is playing golf.
Then there was the time that Jim and Lou started calling each other “Malamed” (you will not find this word in the dictionary). There were tee shirts made up with the word “Malamed” on them. I guess you had to be there - - it was funny.
The thing that Jim says he will miss the most is grabbing two beers and walking across the street to talk to Lou. We were fortunate to have had a brief visit with Lou the Sunday before he passed away. He exhibited an inner strength, a kindness and a genuineness that was Lou!
In closing we would like to quote S. E. MacNaughton, “Those who have lived in our hearts are never really gone. As long as we keep them with us, in our hearts and our thoughts, they will be with us always. For love, which is timeless, never ceases to exist.”
With our love,
Jeanne and Jim Gilreath
