In 1978, my family, my father Albert, my mother Doris, and my brother & sister and I moved into 11 Indian Rock Rd. From the very start "Doc" and Fran Sage were wonderful, warm neighbors who helped us feel very welcome. Among my memories of Doc are the countless times he would graciously come over to our back yard to help us get our pool ready for the swimming season. I also remember when he "rescued" my father off the roof of our house when my father got up there to check something out and couldn't get back down. To us, Doc and Fran were the kind of neighbors that everyone would want, and we felt so lucky to have them as ours. After my father died in 1988, Doc would thoughtfully cut the "hard to get at" parts of my mothers front yard on his trusty ride-on mower. He did many kind things to help my mother after my father died, and we were all grateful for his kindness. I used to love to see him strolling around his yard in his suspenders. My husband Peter had the opportunity to get to know Doc and was also very fond of both him & Fran. Unfortunately for the world, men like Doc are dying off - he was a gentleman, a kind man and good friend and neighbor and we will miss him. The blessing is that he is now with Fran. May they rest in peace together.
