Obituary of Merwin Sage

Merwin Sage, age 88 died on Saturday, July 3, 2004 at Norwood Terrace Nursing Home in Plainfield. Mr. Sage was born in Warren and was a lifelong resident. Mr. Sage was a graduate of North Plainfield High School and the Casey Jones School of Aeronautics. He taught Aeronautics for the Army Air Corp during World War II. Prior to his retirement in 1984, he was a self-employed building contractor in Warren and Deal, NJ. He was a Warren Township Committeeman and at that time was instrumental in purchasing the Municipal Complex property. He was also a charter member of Community Fire Company in Warren and a member of the Honorary Warren PBA. Mr. Sage enjoyed hunting with his nephews. He also enjoyed fishing. He is predeceased by his wife, Frances M. Sage in March 2004. Surviving are his son Robert M. Sage and his wife Lois of Burbank, CA; his daughter Barbara Carter and her husband James of Warren; his sister Martha Sweezy and her husband George of Warren; his grandchildren, Schuyler T., Randall J., Shea and John Merwin. Also surviving are three great- grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 9, 2004 at 8:00 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 9th from 6:00 to 9:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
