Obituary of Paul B. Blalock, Jr.

Paul Barber Blalock, Jr. age 82, died on Thursday, July 15th at Berkeley Heights Convalescent Center in Berkeley Heights, NJ. Born in Burlington, NC, Mr. Blalock lived in Greensboro until 1958 when he moved to Berkeley Heights where he lived for 24 years before returning to Greensboro in 1982. Mr. Blalock graduated from Wake Forest University with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. He subsequently served in the US Air Force during WW II and worked as part of the team that designed the B-52 bomber. After his term in the service, he began working at Burlington Industries; working his way up during his 35 years with the company to Vice President of the Fiberglass Division. During those years, 24 were spent in New York City before transferring back to Greensboro. After retiring from Burlington, he continued to work as a consultant to the fiberglass industry for a number of years before settling down to his yard and garden. Mr. Blalock returned to New Jersey upon the death in April 2003 of his beloved wife of 60 years, Inez Blalock, to live with his daughter, Rebecca and her family. He was also predeceased by a daughter, Paulette Candice Kirkmanin in 1997. Surviving are his daughter, Rebecca Blalock Lostan and her husband Sal of Warren, NJ; 3 grandsons, Markus Elias Lostan, Tyler Matthew Lostan, and Hunter Paul Lostan; a granddaughter Heather Lea Pilla and a great-granddaughter Madyson Rae Pilla. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 28th at 6:30 p.m. at the Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd, Watchung, NJ. Visitation will be on July 28th from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Valerie Fund, 2101 Millburn Avenue, Maplewood, NJ 07040 would be deeply appreciated.
